Notice anything? Look hard! {No, not the dry, dead, brown grass from the lack of rain and heatwave.}

See - or not see - it yet?

No leash! I am outside with no leash!! How pawsome is that?!

Finally, one of my dreams has come true. But sadly, it came true at a cost. I am not on a leash because I am sick.

Yes, it is sadly very true. I have a few medical issues going on inside me right now and it is a bit scary. It happened fairly quickly, too, so it took my human, K, by surprise. One day I was my loveable, happy, goofy, excitable, fun, energetic, trying to break free of my leash self and the next I was lethargic and coughing and barely walking. So I humbly request for the Power of the Paws and prayers to help me heal and get back to 100% perfect me!

Back to me...

Porgy is sticking by me so he can transmit powerful parrot healing thoughts to me.

Porgy has something he wants to say. Take it away, Porgy!

Thanks, Suka! Porgy here. Suka is always woofing about all his wonderful and amazing blogging friends, so I appeal to all of you out there in the blog-o-sphere to please use your Power of the Paws to help heal my Suka. Thank you.

I don't want to lose my Suka.

I don't want to lose my Suka.

I have the best Pack! Thanks Porgy and Silvius! I don't want to lose myself, either! I currently have three medical issues. First, I have very bad arthritis in both my hind legs which makes walking uncomfortable. Hence, no leash, because I just don't go that far anymore. I also have an inner-ear issue in my right ear, so my balance is slightly off sometimes, which also makes walking a bit difficult and thus keeps me from wondering too far from home. Finally, and the worst, I may have heart disease. Right now I am on antibiotics because my Veterinarian wants to first check if I have congested lungs. If I do, then the antibiotics will clear up my lungs, the coughing will stop, and I will breath easier and feel better. But, if my cough does not go away, then I most likely have heart disease. K does not want to think about that right now. Neither do I. Instead, we are thinking of all the prayers and Power of the Paws coming my way to cure me. Disease has no place in my heart, and arthritis has no place in my legs or body. But leash-free adventures have a place in my future! I'm just sayin'...

Hello, Suka. Amber da Weenie sent us to meet you. We will for sure keep our paws crossed for your speedy recovery.

Even though we're sure you take heartworm preventative, did your vet test for heartworms? Years ago, mama had a dog who tested negative and was on HW preventative and he STILL got heartworms. Once it was identified, he was treated successfully. It was rough, but he made it.

Anyway, we sure hope you feel better real soon.

Suka, we are sending the most powerful possible healing vibes all the way across the Pond. Gail's family are all arthritis suffers so we know all about that particular unglamorous but limiting disease. But we also know that there are lots of effective treaments out there for heart problems, which can be deployed if necessary (although we hope they wren't necessary).
Love and best wishes,
Bertie and Gail.
Ps from Gail: The structure you asked about, pictured in the background on Bertie's blog last week, is an Obelisk constructed in Victorian times to commemorate Sir James McGrigor, an military surgeon who reformed the British army's medical services and so saved the lives of many soldiers. The obelisk originally stood in the Aberdeen city centre, but was moved to its current location a mile away in Duthie Park in the 1890s - it must have been quite an effort! To me, the most interesting aspect is the old plaque on the monument which refers to Sir James as being from 'North Britain', an term for Scotland that one never hears used today.

My dear Suka ...you have my absolute full support and my paws are crossed so tight I might just fall over!

Let me tell you a little story ...a few days after Christmas my assistant took me to the vet because I was coughing and having many of your same symptoms. They found that my heart was enlarged and there was fluid in my lungs. They didn't think I had much time left, but here I am almost nine months later! A week after my initial vet appointment I saw a cardiologist and while I definitely have heart disease my lungs were clear! We take things day by day, but I am feeling just fine thanks to good care and medicine. I also have days when I am quite spunky!

I just know you will be fine! We are all pulling for and supporting you!

Your pal, Pip

But I still have to get checked, it's scary!

I will keep making my stops to see how things are going with you! You are like my best furiend on here :(

Hi Suka,

Just checking in on you to see how you are feeling ...

One other thing to mention, I started taking fish oil in my food and it has really given me more energy. It comes in a capsule, which my assistant pops open and mixes with my food. Fish oil is good for arthritis AND heart disease. Our vet gave it to us - you might want check with your vet to see if it might help.

Also, my vet advised keeping me cool - not easy as we have had such a hot summer! My assistant bought me a doggie cooling vest, which really helps. I still can't be outside very long in really hot weather the sun, but the vest has helped me enjoy some outside time this summer. The vests come in all sizes. Do you know Corbin? He has some heart issues as well. If you would me to introduce you, let me know.

Your pal, Pip

P.S: I'll be going back to the cardiologist next month for my nine month check up.

Hi Suka, we thought to check in and see what you've been up to and very sad to hear you've gotten so sick! Our family has a lot of arthritis in it also, so we know what you're dealing with. We've noticed a lot of dogs in our neiborhood this summer with hip and leg problems and their parents give them pain medicine and have way slower walks.I hope your cough goes far away and you don't have any heart problems! We'll cross our paws and say some prayers for you Suka and K too for all her worry! You have a good pack with Silvius and Porgy too! Hope you feel better soon!!! Love Tiger and mom Cindy
